Plus Bio for employers and benefits teams

The short version: Plus Bio is a general wellness product, not medical care, which is the category most lifestyle spending accounts can cover. Today it is sold one member at a time, $19 a month, by card. There is no seat-based or invoiced purchase yet. Nothing about a member reaches their employer, including whether they used it at all. If you are evaluating this for a workforce, the things a benefits file needs are below, and there is a person at the end of the page.

What Plus Bio is, in the words we use everywhere else

Plus Bio is a 15-minute monthly health check-in. A member enters a few numbers at home, our AI writes them a short report from their own history, and they commit to two or three small steps.

Our Terms call it an educational wellness service. Our health disclaimer calls it a general wellness product that does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and makes no claims about disease outcomes. No doctor works here and no diagnosis is ever made. Those are the same sentences a member reads, and they are the ones to quote in your file.

We do not claim it saves you money. The two large randomised trials of employer wellness programmes found no significant effect on clinical measures, medical spending or absenteeism, and we are not going to argue with them in a sales paragraph. What we will claim is what the product does: a member sees their own numbers twelve times a year instead of once, and walks into their annual visit prepared.

If your employer is paying

HIPAA covers health providers, health plans, clearinghouses, and the companies that work on their behalf. The reason it does not cover us has three parts: we collect health information directly from the member, for that member's own use; we do not work on behalf of any health plan or provider; and we run no insurance billing at all. Paying cash reinforces that. It is not the fact that decides it.

Who pays the invoice does not, by itself, move any of those three. An employer or a spending-account administrator can pay for a membership without Plus Bio acting on their behalf, and without them gaining access to anything.

What we will not tell you is whether your programme (as you fund it, describe it and administer it) becomes part of your group health plan, triggers ERISA welfare-plan obligations, or meets the ADA and GINA requirements for a voluntary wellness programme. Those turn on facts on your side of the wall, not ours. Our published research covers the direct-to-consumer position; it does not analyse employer sponsorship, and we are not going to publish a conclusion we have not done the work for. Send us what your counsel needs and we will answer in writing, or say we cannot.

What we ask members, and what we never ask

Onboarding asks once whether a doctor has already flagged blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar or thyroid, and whether the member takes regular medication. It is there so that a report does not solemnly announce something their doctor told them two years ago.

Four facts about those questions, which are ours to state:

  • Every one of them is optional. A member can pass that step without answering anything and still get a full report.
  • No reward, discount or unlock depends on answering.
  • No family medical history is asked for, anywhere in the product.
  • No answer reaches an employer. Not the answers, not who enrolled, not who skipped it.

Whether your programme clears the ADA and GINA bar depends on how you offer it: the incentive attached, the notice given, how participation is handled. That is your counsel's call. The list above is what they can hold in their hand.

What you can see as the payer

Our privacy policy says there is no access for insurers, employers, or data brokers. That is unqualified, and it stays unqualified. There is no employer dashboard, no admin tier, no aggregate export, not even a count of who signed up.

So let us say the cost of that plainly, because you will hit it at renewal: if you fund this, we cannot tell you whether anyone used it. No engagement rate, no completion rate, no 312-of-340. We would rather lose the sale than be the wellness benefit an employee is right to be suspicious of.

One number you can still have, and it does not come from us: your own records. If members join individually and claim it through a lifestyle spending account, your LSA administrator already reports how many people submitted a Plus Bio receipt. That is a count of who bought it, from your side of the wall. It is not a count of who used it, and we will not pretend otherwise.

How a company buys it today

Honestly: it does not, yet. There is one checkout: an individual member, $19 a month, by card, through Stripe. No seats, no invoicing, no purchase orders, no volume pricing, no annual term. That gets built when a real buyer is on the other end of it, not on spec.

Two routes work right now.

One: reimbursement through a lifestyle spending account. Members join themselves, pay $19, and submit the Stripe receipt. Lifestyle spending accounts are post-tax and reimbursements are taxable wages to the employee; they may not reimburse medical expenses, but they routinely cover wellness apps. A general wellness product is the side of that line you need us to be on. Whether we are eligible under your plan is set by your plan's own expense list, not by us.

Two: tell us what you need. Seats, an invoice, a W-9, a security review, a signed agreement, different terms. If you are the first employer to ask for something, you will get a real answer about whether it exists and when, including "not yet" where that is the truth.

We do not claim HSA or FSA eligibility. That rail runs through letters of medical necessity, the IRS has flagged the practice, and we are not going to market our way around it.

Terms, and the liability cap

Our Terms cap total liability at the fees paid in the twelve months before a claim. At $19 a month that is $228 per member. Those terms are written for one consumer buying a $19 wellness subscription, and they are what applies today to anyone who signs up here.

If your legal team needs something different, that is a conversation rather than a policy. Write to us and say what they need.

Talk to a person

Plus Bio is operated by DALT AI: the same name Stripe bills under, and the reason our email address sits on dalt.ai rather than plus.bio.

Buying for a team: email plusbio@dalt.ai with "Employer" in the subject. Roughly how many people, how you would fund it, and what your legal or security review needs. A person reads every one of these and replies.

Already a member: the same address handles billing, cancellation, and anything about your own account.
